Great Vajradhara, Tilopa, Naropa,

Marpa, Milarepa, Lord of Dharma Gampopa,

Karmapa who knows all things past, present and future,

Holders of the four greater and eight lesser lineages,

including the Drikung, Taklung, Tsalpa, and glorious Drukpa,

Peerless protectors of beings, you who have mastered

the profound path of Mahamudra, the Dakpo Kagyu,

May I uphold your lineage and be blessed to follow your example.

Since it is taught that detachment is the foot of meditation,

please grant your blessings so that practitioners

who have no attachment to or craving for food and wealth

and have cut all material ties to this life will have no interest in honor or gain.

Since it is taught that devotion is the head of meditation,

please grant your blessings so that uncontrived devotion

will arise in meditators who continually supplicate

the Gurus who open the doors to the treasury of oral instructions.

Since it is taught that non-distraction is the heart of meditation,

please grant your blessings so that meditators who remain directly

within the fresh essence of each thought that arises, without contrivance,

will be freed from the belief that there is something on which to meditate.

Since it is taught that the essence of thoughts is dharmakaya,

which is nothing at all and yet appears as anything,

please grant your blessings so that meditators who witness its unrestrained display

may realize that samsara and nirvana are identical.

In all my lives, never apart from the perfect Guru,

may I experience the glory of Dharma,

and by fully attaining the qualities of the paths and grounds,

may I swiftly achieve the state of Vajradhara.
